***UPDATE 3/29/22***

The universe has a funny way of switching your life up on you when you start to set goals for the year. What I have learned so far is that I have to learn to roll with it instead of trying to keep everything so structured. Things happen when you least expect it, as long as it lines up with where I want to be I am more than happy to re-arrange my goals. As you know recently I started a new job and that alone was a roller coaster ride that I seem to still be on. If you didn’t know you can read all about the End Of An Era and New Beginnings.

I said I would update you on my progress so here I am holding myself accountable for my 2022 Goals. You can scroll on down to see how I am doing with my goals and see how I am re-arranging some of them to fit into my chaotic life at the moment.

Happy New Year everyone! It is officially time to start this new year off right by setting my goals for 2022. As 2022 begins I have taken time to reflect on this past year. Owning my shortcomings and giving myself grace for goals I set and never completed. As much as I wanted to beat myself up for what I didn’t do I know that I accomplished things in 2021 that I never thought I would. Taking inventory of all that I did accomplish and how much more I will accomplish.

My Accomplishments in 2021

  • Completing a Project Management course
  • Creating Workin Mama Life blog
  • Writing about things that matter to me
  • Discovering Mentoring
  • Mentoring my team
  • Being acknowledged for everything I do at work
  • Gaining respect and authority as a Production Manager
  • Making self care a part of my everyday life

That is a lot to be proud of and I am just getting started, Many great people didn’t hit their stride until there later in life and now I understand why. You can’t hit a stride unless you lived life and that takes time. To become mentally mature and aware of the world around you doesn’t hit you in your 20’s or even your early 30’s.

That stride and confidence comes from experiencing all that life throws your way.  I didn’t really hit my stride until last year. I wanted more and I got tired of being afraid so I started to take action, You know what happened when I took action, absolutely nothing. No one was there to put me down and shit on my goals. In the same breath, there were not too many cheerleaders either.

The point is even if someone had something to say it didn’t matter if it was good or bad because I wasn’t listening. The only thing that mattered was what I wanted to achieve my goals so I put my head down and got to work. The funny thing about having goals and big dreams they are yours so in order to make them a reality you have to take action. No one is coming to do the work for you it’s just you, So if you want to change, if you want a better life, if you want to accomplish something you and only you can do it.

Wheel Of Life Assessment for goal setting 2022

The first step I took to help me set up my goals for 2022 was by utilizing the wheel of life. This helped me to see where I am and what I need to work on. Here is the template I used to get started on my assessment. I used one from PositivePsychology.com because I was able to print out a blank one and customize it for me.

My Goals for 2022

Fitness & health goals

***UPDATE 3/29***

I started off strong, but quickly got derailed when well life happens. I really need to get back on top of my fitness goal. For the most part, I have been eating healthier. Accept for the addiction I seem to have to Reese’s Peanut Butter these days. Exercise has not been a big priority, but I am working on it. Weighing myself is not going to happen right now because it will only discourage me more. The good news is that spring is coming so when the warmer weather hits I will be able to walk and jog more.

One of my goals for 2022 is to Lose 40 lbs. which is the big goal. I have always struggled with my weight. I know why I struggled in the past and am struggling now. It’s trauma that I carry with me, and it is my way of protecting myself. I know it’s not healthy, and yet I still put on weight as if it is a shield. I have lost weight before by going on crazy diets and exercising. Then something would derail me, and I would wind up back where I started. Plus, a little extra because yo-yo dieting is the worst form of dieting.

This time I am doing things differently. I am not going to go on some crazy diet or exercise binge. I will make eating better and exercising regularly part of my lifestyle. Learning from my past mistakes is about getting healthy. I want to lose weight to have more energy to keep up with my son and feel better about my body and health.

My plan of action:

  • Exercise at least 3 times a week (yoga, bike, walking, jogging)
  • Develop better eating habits
  • Drink a gallon of water a day
  • Walk at least 8,000-10,000 steps a day

Personal & Spiritual Goals

***UPDATE 3/29***

I have been pretty much on track with my spiritual growth. Every day I meditate, journal, practice gratitude. I have been learning to let my past go and start living in the present moment and taking on life as it comes. Am I perfect? NO, but I make a conscious effort every day. I have read four books so far this year and am about to start on my 5th book tomorrow.

Personal and spiritual growth are things that I have been working on for over a year now. However, there is always room for improvement and plenty of demons  I have yet to conquer. Personal and spiritual growth is an active part of my everyday life, but there are some things I want to add to my routine, so I continue to grow as a person. The reason why is because I want to heal, let go and live in the present moment. Taking care of my mental health is crucial because it helps me be better for my family and friends.

My plan of action:

  • Meditate at least 10 minutes a day
  • Read at 12 books this year
  • Practice gratitude everyday
  • Deal with and let go of past traumas
  • Journal everyday

Friends & Family Goals

***UPDATE 3/29***

I have been spending more time with my family, just not as much as I wanted to. However, they have been extremely supportive of my new job. As I get settled in and back on a routine I will begin planning more family fun days and maybe even a vacation. I have worked very hard on communicating better with the people I love. Trying to be more understanding and compassionate about how the words I use affect their feelings. I regularly shoot from the hip when speaking, but I have made it a point to be more aware of my words.

My family is everything to me. They are my support system who loves me unconditionally. My friends are so important to me I don’t have many because I like to keep a small group of friends who challenge me to be better and hold me accountable for my actions. I don’t need hundreds of friends because I prefer genuine relationships.

Also, to be honest, I don’t have time to be having many friends because the friends I do have, know that my family is my priority. I do all of the below but would like to do more of it. Sometimes life gets in the way, and spending quality time with the people I care about is essential to me. So one of my goals for 2022 is to spend more time with the people I who support and love me as I am.

My plan of action:

  • Spend more time with my family
  • Go out with friends at least once a month
  • Improve how I communicate with others
  • At least 5 Family fun days

Career Goals

***UPDATE 3/29***

This is where I have made the most progress. The meeting I wanted to have with my boss turned out to be the one when I resigned to take a better opportunity. I significantly increased my salary and got the position I wanted to be in by mid-March. As of for the Mentorship Program I have to put that on hold for now as I adjust to my new role in my career. Finding time to write this past month has been a real struggle, but no worries I am recruiting some help so I can continue to grow Workin Mama Life.

My career is something I love, but I have re-discovered my passion for writing, mentoring, and growth. My goal for 2022 is all about taking it to the next level because my ambition and drive to be the best is what gets me up and to the office every morning. I am at a point in my career where I am ready for the next level, but I don’t know what that level is. I know there has to be more I can learn and do more.

I also love to write and help others, so creating and maintaining a blog was perfect for me. I love giving advice, but I know better than anyone that you have to live it first to give advice. That is why I waited to start writing because speaking from my own experiences is what makes Workin Mama Life so different. My other passion is to mentor others so they don’t make the same mistakes I did in my life and to show them they are capable of more than they think.

My plan of action:

  • Have a meeting with my manager on how to advance my career. ***DONE***
  • Plan and research how to start a mentorship program & maintain at least three clients
  • Grow Workin Mama Life (you can see my goals for Workin Mama Life Below)

Financial Goals

***UPDATE 3/29***

Not much to report here… I got my raise so I am going to mark that as done. I also started the $5 challenge so I can save money. It is actually pretty simple every week I just transfer money over into my savings so I don’t have to think about doing it. I set it up once and that was it. I am contributing to my 401K and plan on increasing it at the end of April.

Everyone has financial goals, but there is a difference between getting by and being financially free. One of my goals for 2022 is to work toward becoming financially free. I might not achieve it this year or next, but I have to start somewhere. The bills will always be there, but relieving the stress of them a little at a time will get me to my ultimate goal of financial freedom.

My plan of action:

  • Save at least $5000 by December (Set Up Automatic Deposit to my savings account)
  • Contribute more to my 401K
  • Get a raise at work (Done)
  • Pay off at least $15000 of debt by December
  • Create a budget

Blog Goals

This blog that I started is a goal that I have already accomplished. Taking the time every day to create and work on Workin Mama Life to bring you real-life advice and inspiration is my achievement. I am proud of it because, unlike other projects, I am passionate about writing, telling my story, having a voice, and helping other people. My goal for 2022 is to continue to grow Workin Mama Life into a community and a space where working moms, parents, and women can come and know they are not alone in their struggles.

My plan of action:

  • Put up at least two posts per week.
  • Create two reviews a month, one book review, and one product review.
  • Plan and post three social media posts for Instagram
  • Plan and post three social media posts for Facebook
  • Create free worksheets for self-development.
Happy New Year 2022
Final Thoughts:

Anyone can have a New Year’s Resolution, but how many will follow through and achieve it. The trick is to make that resolution into a manageable goal. I know all of my above goals seem like I have bitten off more than I can chew, but all of those big goals have smaller goals in my plan of action to achieve my big goals. You can’t be afraid of change because if you are, you already lost before you even got started.

My goals for 2022 can be done simultaneously by breaking them down into daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to get to where I want to be. Workin Mama Life is going to be my accountability partner. Keeping you up to date on my progress will help to hold myself accountable for the goals I want to reach. Keeping track of my daily and weekly activities to show you that you can accomplish anything if you put your mind and heart into it.

If you want to know how to make those New Year’s Resolutions a reality I have already posted how to make that happen. It is your turn to set your goals for 2022 and make some big changes with small tasks to get you there.

I want to know what your goals for 2022 are and am looking for a few people to mentor so they can achieve them. So drop me a comment or you can contact me about your goals for 2022.
